The wheel gives me a starting point. Handbuilding lets me add a face, a feather, a curve, or a completely unexpected character.

Kim Haig · Passion, grit & curiosityI’m a ceramic artist in Shelby, North Carolina. Before clay, I was a caterer. Food was my way of sharing love, and that same feeling found its way into my pottery when I began during the pandemic.
Today, I bring together wheel throwing, handbuilding, monoprinting, and sculptural details. I make most of my own glazes and slips, and I especially love experimenting with oxides.
I love the art and the science. The layers, the chemistry, the discoveries when the kiln opens. There is always something new to learn.

The wheel gives me a starting point. Handbuilding lets me add a face, a feather, a curve, or a completely unexpected character.
Monoprinting, slips, underglazes, and oxides add layers of marks and color. I like surfaces that reward a closer look.
Mixing glazes and exploring how materials behave keeps me curious. Every firing is another chance to learn.
